Lilac Heaven

“Now in a cottage built of lilac and laughter
I know the meaning of the words ‘ever after.’ “

Screen Shot 2015-06-04 at 11.29.46 AMThe lilacs are in full bloom and they are draping over our newly painted picket fence. The blossoms smell heavenly, and we leave the screen door open let the fragrance fill the house.

Screen Shot 2015-06-04 at 11.31.37 AMThis fence has been taking so long to paint, and I still have so much to do, but it is worth it. I remember exactly when my love for white picket fences started: from the cover of a Victoria magazine when I was 11. From that moment on I knew I must have one someday.

Screen Shot 2015-06-04 at 1.12.25 PMAnd now, YEARS later, my dream is finally coming true. Mark worked hard all last Summer to build it, and since it was green-treated wood, I had to wait a whole year to start painting. Sigh. But good things come to those that wait.

Screen Shot 2015-06-04 at 11.26.38 AMWe’ve done so much this spring already… Planting flowers, apple trees, working on the picket fence around my little garden… I hope now to relax a bit more and enjoy it. We finally bought a table and chairs for our patio so we can eat outside. And the girls have a new turtle sandbox to play in (Thank you, Marner and Papa!). Summer can now begin.

Screen Shot 2015-06-04 at 11.27.37 AMWe’re hoping for some more sunny, warm days soon so we can swim in the lake. Birdie asks me every day if we can go in the lake yet.

Screen Shot 2015-06-04 at 11.25.09 AMAnd these little rascals love the fresh air at the screen door. This is where they sit and watch the birds and bugs all day long.

Screen Shot 2015-06-04 at 1.11.36 PMWishing you all a blessed Summer filled with sunshine and blossoms and barbecues.
